WHAT to EXPECT
The partnership between author and editor is an important one, and no one should go into it blind. Here's exactly what you can expect when working with me.
FIRST CONTACT
To get started, fill out the contact form here. This lets me know the scope of your project and what you're looking for in an editor.
SOME PAPERWORK
I'll respond via email within 2-3 business days. Included in that email will be a basic service agreement and a brief intake questionnaire that dives a little deeper into your vision for your book and helps me understand how I can help support you.
INITIAL DEPOSIT
As part of the signed agreement, you'll make a deposit of 25% of the estimated total, which will be based on the word count of your manuscript. This deposit is non-refundable and serves as a retainer for editing services. Payment methods include Apple Pay, PayPal, Venmo, Google Pay, and all major credit and debit cards.
PROJECT LAUNCH
Once you return the signed agreement and questionnaire and make your deposit, we're ready to go! I'll ask you to email me your manuscript in .docx format. I'll review it and get you a realistic turnaround timeline. Then I'll get to work.
MAGIC in PROGRESS
If my turnaround estimate is longer than two weeks, expect weekly emailed updates on where I am in the process, as well as any questions I might have while reading it.
DELIVERY
When my first pass is complete, I'll send you my edits and comments in Word Tracked Changes, plus a one-pager with broader editorial notes.
