Many years ago, I wrote a book. Like any proud bookparent, I thought it was the greatest fantasy novel since Ursula K. Le Guin. (Spoilers: It was, most emphatically, not.)

It was a freelance editor who kindly, graciously, and, when necessary, ruthlessly, helped remove my blinders and see not only what the story was (a hot mess), but also what it could become (a published trilogy).

I write books about magical creatures, but that editor worked real-world magic, and that's what I hope to share with you.
